Commonwealth of Massachusetts. To the selectmen of the town of [blank] in Norfolk District, Greeting : whereas a law of this commonwealth, passed June 15th, 1822, provides that, in case no person is chosen a representative to Congress, by a majority of votes ... the executive authority shall cause precepts to be issued to the selectmen of the towns therein, to warn the inhabitants ... to assemble and give in their votes ... These are ... to will and require you ... to cause the freeholders and other inhabitants of the town of [blank] ... to assemble on Monday ... to give in their votes ... for one representative, that is an inhabitant of the said district, to represent them in the Congress of the United States of America ...
