Real no. 37., calendar no. 176. : the Committee of Ways and Means, to whom was referred so much of message no. 1 of His Excellency the governor, as relates to the support of families of soldiers, also the petition of sundry citizens of Greenville district, of Chester district, of York district, and of Chesterfield district, and the presentment of the grand jury for Darlington district, relative to the law for the support of the families of soldiers, and also a bill to amend an act entitled "an act to afford aid to the families of soldiers," report : that they have considered the various matters thus referred, and concur in the views expressed by His Excellency the governor ... the terms of the bill referred do not appear to cover the views above expressed : the Committee therefore recommend that the referred bill do not pass, and ask leave to report by bill : respectfully submitted, Wilmot G. DeSaussure, chairman : in the House of Representatives, December 9, 1862.--read the bill the first time : a bill to make appropriation in aid of the families of soldiers, and to repeal an act entitled an act to afford aid to the families of soldiers, ratified on the twenty-first day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.
