Real no. 16., calendar no. 70. : the Committee of Ways and Means, to whom was referred the memorial of the president and directors of the Shelby and Broad River Railroad Company, praying the aid of the state in its construction, report : that the chief intention of the promoters of the Shelby and Broad River Railroad Company, appears to be the formation of a connection whereby the iron mines of Spartanburg district should be placed in connection with the coal regions of North Carolina ... the Committee ask leave to report by bill : respectfully submitted, Wilmot G. DeSaussure, chairman : in the House of Representatives, December 2, 1863.--read the bill the first time : a bill to grant the aid of the state to the Shelby and Broad River Railroad Company.
