Real no. 8., calendar no. 58 : the Committee on Military, to whom was referred the petition of certain members of the companies of reserves from Marlboro' district, praying that those members over forty-five years of age may be exempted from service ... beg leave to report : that whilst they fully comprehend and appreciate the privations and distress, which the imperiled condition of our country imposes upon its citizens ... in the imminent dangers of the present hour, and in the obligations of the state pledged to the Confederate government, sufficient reason exists for the exhibition of that highest evidence of loyalty in a citizen--a prompt and cheerful obedience to the constituted authority of the state ...
