Real no. 18., calendar no. 97. : the Judiciary Committee, to whom was referred "a bill to alter and amend the constitution of the state, so as to adopt the ordinance of secession as a part of the same," have considered the same, and deem it inexpedient to legislate on the subject : the ordinance of secession has already been adopted by the sovereign authority of the state, in convention assembled, and no ratification of it could add to its authority or efficiency : they therefore recommend that the bill do not pass : B.F. Perry, chairman : in the House of Representatives, December 13, 1862, read the bill the first time : a bill to alter and amend the constitution of the state, so as to adopt the ordinance of secession as part of the same.
