Summary
Bust-length portrait of Elizabeth Russell as a young woman . Title devised by curator . Plate is impressed with initials H.B.H . (Holmes , Booth , and Hayden , platemakers) and a logo of a seated eagle in profile . Gilded elliptical mat . Decorative protector . Red velvet lining . Black leather case imprinted on border with pair of lines in what is known as Rectangle design . Two hook-and-eye latches with one hook remaining . This type of case was produced ca.1853-1854 . Russell married Col.Theodore Lyman in 1856 . Their principal residence was on Heath St. , Brookline , in a house built by Col.Lyman's father , Mayor Theodore Lyman .
