Series : The urban ceremonial mask series . Silkscreen print of an African mask superimposed over the facade of the African Meetinghouse in Boston , Mass . Artist was commissioned to create this image for the 350th celebration of the founding of Boston in 1980 . Silkscreen first printed in 1981 ; this impression was printed by the artist in 2002 . The African mask depicted in this silkscreen is a sixteenth century Nigerian mask known as the Benin Ceremonial Pendant . Inscribed in graphite under image : edition number , title and series title (abbreviated) , artist's signature , and date . Watermark : BFK Rives / France Edition : 23/100 . W.H.C . Steiner Print Fund in honor of Victoria L.M . Paine and Michael J . Paine . Purchased from the artist October 2004 . #2004.31 (no.1) .
